アースクライン・バイオメカニクスでは当初、ボルトレックスとロード・インパルスの2機種の開発・製造計画を立てていたが、SANATによるMSG掌握に続く混乱の中でボルトレックス製造を委託した工廠を失い、リバティー・アライアンス結成に伴う主力戦闘ヘキサギア調達計画にはロード・インパルス1機種で臨むことになった。2機種運用を想定した片方が欠けたため同機の仕様には若干の見直しが入り、チェーンガンやオートマチックグレネードランチャーの大型弾倉、後述するトリックブレードなどが追加されたが、それでも携行できる火力量の不足は否めず、歩兵用重火器や旧式の大型火器を現場判断で追加する例が多く見られる。ただし過剰な重武装は第三世代ヘキサギアとしての特長を損ない、部隊運用にも支障が出るために控えるよう通達が出ている。
