Study, Autumn Embers Summer mild autumn afternoon in AshevilleBrilliant fall foliage initially drew my eye to this subject along the Middle Prong River in the Great Smoky Mountains, but what really intrigued me was the foreground water cascade. The Smokies are interesting because the mountain streams often take on a turquoise aspect that I tend to associate more with the ocean. It's pretty cool to see that same play of color in Appalachia, and, in this subject, it made for an amazing array of colors.
