blue shutters and a polka dot cloth have all appeared in many of my works however its probably the newcomer - a bird in a cage - who steals the show

It’s less about costume or exoticism

The 'cheeky’ face on the mug in this little arrangement seems to affect everything else in the painting

but it still has a habit of feeling different each time I come back to it
