It's considered a vanity sampler, as at some point, Sarah picked out the year she worked her sampler, so people could not know her age as an adult. Stitched in Weeks Dye Works (or DMC) flosses on 40 count Mushroom Light Mocha Newcastle by Zweigart, but it lends itself well to many neutral hand dyed linens, too
