After photographing the cottonwood trees being back lit by the sunlight

the South Fork Kishwaukee River begins to freeze from the edges inward

I was able to get both of them as they momentarily pause from foraging in the forest at Wildflower Park

I wanted to have a shallow depth of field to have the flowers stand out

The blazing star is a beautiful and colorful tall perennial plant and unique in that it blooms from the top down
